Delta Doin's:
Hello World! Gosh, I just decided to check my blog and see if it was STILL there!! Haven't posted since 2008!! Time flies - when you're having fun.

Well, a lot has gone on since I last posted. Kimberly and Dee now have 2 boys-Lawson and Rolin; they bought our house and have been there for about 2 1/2 years; and we have FINALLY moved in our new house - although we're not completely finished with it! We are now experiencing one of the coldest winters we've had in a while. I'm ready for some nice warm weather and for the sun to shine.

Although Joe and I have not had a chance to take a motorcycle trip, he and John went on a trip in November. They rode out to Texas and had a great trip! Maybe next trip I'll be able to make. We would love to go somewhere before they get started with the crops, but with all this icy weather we've just not been able to. The cold won't be that bad- as we have some WONDERFUL heated leather suits and gloves!! We stay "toasty warm" while riding in the cold!! It's great!

Well, Just wanted to give a shout out. Am sure there is nobody that reads this blog-especially since I've not been on it myself in 2 years!!! Take care!

Sunday Doin's!

Well, yesterday was a fun day in the Delta! After church services were over, Theresa and John called saying that they were at the Ramada Inn eating the buffet and for us to come on over. Of course, they did NOT have to "twist our arms" to get us over there!! We enjoyed the usual Sunday buffet of FRIED chicken, roast beef, ham, dressing, and all the other trimmings. Oh, and Joe REALLY enjoyed EVERYBODY's cheese cake!!! (yep, you guessed it- he DID eat EVERYBODY'S!!!! Oh, and he reminded us that they were SMALL pieces!)

As usual, we enjoyed visiting with others who were enjoying the buffet. Among some of those we got to visit were Barbara and Charlie Smart (who we've not seen in a looong time). Was also glad to get to meet Carolyn Tindall. I feel like I already knew her, though. She is such a sweet, sweet person. She grew up around these parts. Of course, she remembered Mama and Daddy. A dear friend of mine's child is married to one of her children! Small world, huh?!?

After STUFFING at the Ramada - we rode down to Market Place parking lot where the Delta Riders Motorcycle Club was hosting a "Hogs Love Dogs (and Cats, too)" fund raising event for the Leflore County Humane Society. (Joe is not a member, but John is and he mentioned to Joe that we ought to ride down there.) Joe rode his Harley to church so that he could go to Market Place and spend the afternoon with all those gathered there. I went in the "Bug" b/c had plans to come on home after church. Well, I wound up staying all afternoon, too. Got to see lots of folks and get a lot of TALKING in there, too!!! (and you KNOW how I DO love to talk!) The event was a huge success - John told me this a.m. at Mama's that they got about 2,000 pounds of dog/cat food and lots of "kitty litter", too!!

Pridgen, and Walt Swider, and a couple of other guys rolled in just as things got kicked off. They've been on a trip out to Arizona and around. Gosh, you should see Pridgen's "saddle bags" on his bike. They are those stainless 'tool box' looking things like the farmers have in the back of their trucks!!! (you watch- that will catch on and everybody that travels any distance on their bikes will have some of those!)

The band - "Belt Drive" - which is comprised of a few members of the Delta Riders was the entertainment! (Murray Kornfeld, Chuck Doze, Tony Browning, a Taylor guy, and a couple of others-didn't get their names) I was pleasantly surprised!!! They were REALLY good!! Dud Pleasants (the Bottle Tree Man) a fellow "Minter City Native"-stopped by and just "happened" to have his harmonica in his truck. Oh, my!! The band was playing some 60's music as well as a little blues, and Dud asked if it would be okay if he joined in. They were GREAT together! He told us later that he just had to put a little bit of "Minter City" to it - to spice things up a little!!

There were some really interesting looking motorcycles there. One man on a "trike bike" had a HUGE siren-type horn on his. Another man had big truck horns mounted on his Harley. There were some really beautiful, shiny bikes there. "Trike Mike" was there with his trike bike.

Joe, John, Theresa, and I were talking about that as soon as Theresa gets over her knee surgery-we're gonna have to "hit the road"!!! I can NOT wait. This year I don't have to worry about not being able to go b/c of school!!! YEAH!!! Joe is having a fit to go to the Gatlinburg area. I'm in hopes that we can get a big group up to go. I hope that Cathy and Mike, and Carolyn and Mike will be able to go with us. Guess we could see if John and Linda Smith wanted to tag along with us. Guess we need to go ahead and set a date so that arrangements can be made. Hey, WHEREVER we go and WHOEVER goes with us- you can rest assured that we WILL have a GREAT time!!!! We have so much fun when we get together!

Well, enough about all that. I need to get off this computer and get busy packing!! Seems like I"m getting nowhere FAST- in getting all my "stuff" packed up and in storage so that Kimberly, Dee, Lawson, and Baby can move in this house, SOON!!!

Y'all have a great rest of the day- and remember - there's ALWAYS something going on in the Delta!! and 9 times outta 10 - EVERYBODY knows about it, too!!!! (whether you like it or not!!)

love 'n 'hugs - 'til next time

Delta Doin's?

Delta Doin's? You might ask - "what in the world do they mean by that"? Well, around this part of the Delta that's what folks ask "Hey, whut cha'll been doin'?" So, maybe joe/I can post a few things from time to time to let cha'll know what we've been "doin'"! Thank the Lord we're finished harvesting the wheat! and I might add that the yield was GREAT!! Now, on to the next task of watering all the rice, corn, and soybeans!! And I've got MY work cut out- in that I've got to bale that 190 acres of wheat straw!!! Hey, at least the tractor is AIR CONDITIONED and has a RADIO!!!

Wish we were leaving in the a.m. with John, Theresa, and the rest of their "crew" on their "road trip"!!! They will have a great time-and of course, have lot of "tales" to share when they get back. I'm sure they'll probably have quite a few picts. to share, as well!

Gotta run- too much to get done to be sitting here typing stuff on this blog!!

Hey, y'all have a greater than great rest of the day!

Hello from Home

Hi there! Mimi and Pop here. Well, I had to do as Theresa-and just see if I could set one of these things up. I guess I've succeeded!! We'll see once I've completed this. Look, I could not let my brother "get ahead of me" by having a blog!!! Not that Pop and I will have as many interesting stories to tell as Big Daddy John, but we will have SOME things to tell!! Hopefully, I will post from time to time. More later!! have a greater than great day tomorrow!!!
